Monthly Update - Month Thirty Six

May 03, 2009

Thomas is now a three year old. It’s amazing how fast the last three years have gone, and at the same time I really can’t remember a time when he wasn’t around.

Thomas has been very excited this month about his upcoming birthday and party. We asked who he’d like to ask and the first person he thought of was Father Christmas… it was difficult having to explain to him that that wouldn’t be happening! Just before his birthday we told him Sam would be coming, he then decided that only Sam could come, so when Mum asked if she was invited he said “no, sam is coming”. It seems to be a hard concept for him. But he loved his Birthday and his party very much. I’ll post photos in the usual place soon.

Thomas got some great presents for his birthday, he seems to play with them all too, one of his favourites today has been a big book with all the Usbourne Farmyard Tales in. I think we’ve read them all at least twice, just today! We got him a sand and water play table which is very popular too, and he’s got lots of new cars and things which are played with all the time. The main thing Thomas wanted this year from us was a shed… he loves playing in the play houses in our local garden centre and really, really, wants “a shed with a ladder” at the moment we’re getting away with not getting one by telling him we haven’t got the room!

Thomas has amazed us all in the last week by deciding the time is right to start potty training. He wanted to wear “big boy pants” on Monday and when I changed him into a nappy to go to ASDA he was very upset, so I changed him back and we went shopping in the pants, he wore them most of the day, and the next day when we went to visit Kate, Steve and Poppy (not in the car – it’s a long way!). He gets upset if he has an accident and then doesn’t want to go back into pants, but it’s all a huge improvement, and a glimmer of hope!
