Hull Civic Society open weekend

Jul 04, 2005

It was the open weekend so Saturday and Sunday were spent at Lowgate. I did manage to sneak off for a while on Saturday to pick my car up from the garage and go to the Vauxhall garage to negotiate for a new one. I’m hoping it’s a very long time before I need a new car as it was an excruciating experience. I didn’t realise it’d be such a pain – I knew what I wanted! Hopefully I’ll be able to see the car this week, give them the check on Sunday and pick it up sometime after that. My car broke down again last week – the same this as last time with the engine switching off while I was driving. So we decided it was time to bite the bullet and get a new one.

Getting the car isn’t the best timing in the world as I’ve just spent lots and lots of money on a new camera… I’ve now got a Nikon D70 – so expect lots of photo’s soon as I experiment with it! So far I’m completely in love with it. It’s very fast – I can take two or three pictures in a row and it takes the photo when the button’s pressed – unlike my old camera. We’re unsure what to do with that at the moment, we may sell it on eBay or Chris might have it. Although he’d prefer an ultra-small camera.

We went ringing at Selby last week – to try and keep up my one grab a month resolution. The church is beautiful and the bells are very, very nice. We even managed to ring the 12 – although the ringing master had to ring 1 and 2. I’m hoping to get a ring next weekend, we’re going to my cousins wedding near Loughborough. So maybe we’ll get somewhere on Sunday morning. It depends on the hangovers!

I want to...

Buy these for me.
Buy these and these for Tom.
Go to these places.
Do these things.
