Wedding Bells
Jul 25, 2005
It was Steve and Vicky’s wedding on Saturday. We called a truce with Holy Trinity and were allowed to ring a quarter beforehand and had open ringing afterwards. We got the quarter of Plain Bob Major; which was my 50th quarter! But only just as C called a bob a lead too early and had to quickly put it right… Luckily we got away with it though and kept going for the extra lead to the end.
The wedding service was nice, I much prefer church weddings to registry office ones. They seem much more substantial somehow, with all the readings and hymns. We weren’t invited to the reception as they were keeping it as small as possible. We went for lunch, shopping and a few beers with James and Sarah. We completely lost track of time and didn’t really get to spend long at Janet’s BBQ before it was time to get dressed up and head to the wedding’s night do. It was held at Hessle country Park Hotel, a lovely area with a fantastic view of the bridge. We all had a really good night – and spent most of Sunday recovering from it!
Before the wedding on Saturday I picked up my new car. It’s wonderful and I already really like it. It is different to drive, but I’ve not had a problem so far with the difference between petrol and diesel. I filled it up today and managed to drive to the right pump!
Can’t really take the credit for putting the mess right after the Bob I managed to put in the wrong place. As soon as I called it both Richard and James said ‘No Bob’ and I realised it was wrong. Richard was the one that kept the last lead together and I then put the last Bob in the right place. Comes from starting late and looking at the clock worrying about over-running!
