Pisa, part 2
Oct 07, 2005
On Saturday Mum had decided to spend the day shopping. Chris was a bit scared by this so we decided that Mum and I would shop while they looked around the Cathedral and Baptistery at the Field of Miracles. We got a bus to the station and split up from there, the plan was to meet at 2.00 for something to eat.
There lots of good shops in Pisa, some that you find everywhere – like The Body Shop and some really unusual ones. We had a good time looking round and I spent a fortune. I love Italian food and we stopped early for a drink, unfortunately the only place we could find open was a fairly posh restaurant… so we had some drinks and an ice-cream. It was lovely, white chocolate tartufo. We managed to get round all the shops we wanted to see but by 1.00 they were closing for Siesta so we started making our way to the meeting place. We had another look around the outside of the Cathedral and then got the bus back to the station, and walked home from there as we couldn’t find the right bus!
We’d planned to get a taxi to the tower in the evening and get a meal round there somewhere and take some night photos, but Chris was ill so we walked into town hoping to find somewhere to eat on the way. Pretty much everything was closed but we eventually found something on the edge of a river – and got bitten to death by mosquitoes in the process. I was surprised by how many places we walked past that were closed. Friday night obviously isn’t that busy in the suburbs of Pisa!
