Ringing...
Nov 21, 2005
I think it may be taking over our life… We’ve not had a free weekend for a while, but instead of spending time in the house doing up the backroom, or the hall… or anywhere really. We spent a lot of Saturday driving to and from Kirbymoorside for a quick ring and then back to Hull for a BnD Surprise Major Practice, that went very well. I rang Yorkshire and Lincolnshire on their own and Yorkshire, Cambridge spliced. Chris got Yorkshire, Cambridge, Lincolnshire spliced but I rang the treble for that.
Then on Sunday we had morning ringing (of course) followed by breakfast at the 3 John Scotts, which next Sunday will be serving beer from 9.00 – I’ve no idea how much that will change things. Then we managed to fit in time to go to B&Q, fix a light in the garage and clean out the bunnies before we had to be off to Barrow to ring a quarter, which we thought was going to be Yorkshire but turned out to be Cambridge Minor, I did ok, but still made a lot of silly mistakes. We ended with Plain Bob Minor as a couple of us were struggling. At the end of the quarter we noticed that the 4th ringers finger had been bleeding the whole way through, from the tiniest of cuts… but the rope and sally were both covered with blood – with flecks on his shirt and trousers… so that rope had to be taken home to be washed. Apparently he didn’t notice at all, it just felt “sticky”. After the quarter it was time to go back to Hull for evening ringing. We did make it down to the waterfront in Barton to take a look at a new building that’s recently gone up there, we’ve still no idea what it’s for but we now know it’s not a stadium.
