Six Months
Feb 03, 2006
I’ve not written much here about being pregnant, because I don’t want to really. But now I’m six months I ought to record something about the way I’m feeling. I can’t believe it’s three more months. It feels really close and at the same time really, really far away. We’ve got loads to do before then – including going to the classes that tell you how to change a nappy and wash a baby. I’ve no idea how we’re going to cope! The house is still a complete mess, and there aren’t any floors I’d feel comfortable letting a baby crawl on – though I guess they don’t do that for a while anyway!
We’ve got huge plans for the house, every room needs something doing to it. Fortunately not before the baby gets here! We’ve made lots of progress this week with a wall being plastered that means we can put up book shelves and empty a room full of boxes. The room that will be the nursery is also very nearly finished – and empty… The kitchen isn’t looking good. We are planning to get an extension and completely re-do it. But we haven’t got the plans yet, and until we get those we can’t schedule time with the builder – we still haven’t got a concrete quote from him yet. I’m not bringing the baby home from the hospital to a building site so unless it gets done soon it wont be done for years.
The pregnancy seems to be going well. I’m feeling huge but assured by everyone that I’ll get a lot bigger. I saw the midwife yesterday for my 28 week check and was told that it was a big baby… It can’t be good when the midwife says wow. I’m feeling a lot better than I have at any other stage of the pregnancy, which apparently is normal. All in all I’m excited about the next three months, and definitely excited about being able to take the baby home, although the argument about names wont be pretty.
