Very long weekend

Mar 20, 2006

Last weekend was the start of my long weekends leading up to the start of maternity leave. Three day weeks and four day weekends are definitely something I could get used to!

I didn’t have much planned for Thursday, I had my 35 week midwifes appointment in the morning then I wanted to clean the bunnies out and bake a cake. Probably not in that order. Chris was working in Ireland all weekend (well he says he was working but as it was St Patrick’s day I’m not so sure!) I dropped him off at the station and got a few bits from the market for my tea. Just after I got home I got a very sheepish phone call asking if I could meet him at the airport with his passport – we’d both forgotten that you need photo id to fly. So instead of a productive day I drove to the airport and back! At least I got to have lunch with Chris when I got there.

I didn’t feel like doing much after the driving so I napped on the sofa for the rest of the day. I woke up early on Friday and managed to get the bunnies cleaned out before Mum and Dad arrived. They’d been to Beverley and wanted to stop in to see the newly decorated hall. Dad left after a while and Mum and I went shopping to try and get everything off my baby things list. I spent a fortune in Boots but think I have most of the essentials bought, lots of little clothes, hats, booties, nappies, wipes, cotton wool… everything really! There are a few things left to buy but we’re definitely further along now. After Boots we had lunch at the all you can eat Pizza Hut buffet – turns out I can still eat a lot. Then we chose a carpet for the hall and some curtains for the front room – lots achieved!

Chris was due back mid-day Saturday so I didn’t do too much, I did get the cake baked, which went down very well when he got home. This week it was chocolate, I’m going to try coffee next weekend. When C got back we didn’t have time for much before it was the surprise major practice, I only got one ring but wasn’t really in the mood anyway – Chris had lots of ringing though. Then we had tea at Mr Chu’s a very nice Chinese in Hull – not great for veggie but very nice anyway.

I want to...

Buy these for me.
Buy these and these for Tom.
Go to these places.
Do these things.
