Easter Weekend
Apr 20, 2006
All the days seem to be drifting into one now I’m on maternity leave, something I’m sure will get worse when the baby gets here! However I did notice that we’ve just had an Easter weekend, Chris was at home so it was nice to spend the time with him. As it’s a big occasion for the Church there’s always lots of ringing. This year more than most as we rang four quarters over the course of the weekend! The first on Friday (quarter details) was half muffled and consisted of lots of doubles methods I’ve not rung before – Chris called it and shouted out the work and the bob at each change so it wasn’t too difficult to keep right.
On Sunday we got another quarter of multi doubles This time with a Stedman 60 and one less course of Plain Bob. On Monday James had the idea of going for 8 quarters in a day, unfortunately (fortunately?) he didn’t start planning in time to get all the towers and ringers organised so we ended up going for two. The first was at Middleton where I rang the treble to London and St Clements. I’m pleased I didn’t ring any of the inside bells as they were heavy going. The second at Driffied was yet more doubles methods, most of which I’ve never rung before. We didn’t ring any Plain Bob Bobs so it was interesting. I was up for another attempt at Lowgate but the others were tired by that time!
Other than ringing we didn’t have time to do too much over the weekend, we did get the lawn cut for the first time and spent some time in the garden with the bunnies. I got some weeding done but there’s still quite a lot to go! Also lots of new plants to plant out – including sowing my veggie seeds. The green house is out, the grow bags have been bought…
