Visit to the lakes
Oct 09, 2006
Chris had a couple of jobs to do in the North Lakes so we thought it would be an ideal opportunity for a few days away. We stayed at The George in Keswick on Thursday night although we got there too late to do much other than visit the lake and we were away early in the morning to C’s first job so it was a bit of a flying visit.
We visited Workington and Whitehaven on Friday, I got a good look round both while Chris was working. We decided to stay in Boot on Friday night as we’ve been a few times and really like it. We got a room at George the 4th – where this photo was taken a few years ago. It was lovely and Tom sort of behaved himself at night… After breakfast we had a quick walk before driving to Ravensglass to look at the trains and the sea. We were lucky as there was a Thomas the Tank Engine day on so we got to show Thomas, Thomas!
On Saturday night we stayed at Broughton in Furness as we like ringing at Broughton, we thought it would be nice to introduce Tom to the local ringers. Unfortunately the ringing was cancelled but we had a cup of tea instead – much nicer! Then we headed to the Zoo! Lots and lots of photo opportunities, Tom stayed awake the whole way round and looked at all the animals. I’m sure we’ll be going back when he’s a little older and can enjoy it more.
