Monthly Newsletter - Month Seventeen

Sep 29, 2007

Thomas has changed quite a lot this month. The biggest change is in the amount he talks, he still makes noises for most things but he’s starting to copy words we say now (so strictly no swearing from now on!) he calls buses uss and is starting to say train too. Cars are still brummm though. He also loves shouting LEMUR because we say them at a zoo, he also said Cheetah there when we saw one.

Tom is finding out words for everything all the time, he knows where his (and everyone elses) nose, chin, mouth, eyes, ears, head, hands, feet, shoulders and elbow are. He is getting there with toes, and fingers too. He thinks it’s very funny pointing at things and making you say what they are – which can be painful when it’s my eye!

This months biggest mobility advance was being able to climb safely off the bed, which is a huge relief. He turns round on his belly till his feet are hovering over the edge and lowers himself down. It’s funny to watch!

We went on holiday to the Lake District last week and Thomas loved it, he walked miles and miles (possibly an exageration!). We saw lots of cows and sheep (moo and AAAAAA), lots of water (shhhh) and at the zoo we saw some real Tigers (grrrr) which are his favourite animals at the moment.

Tom is great fun, but starting to be a pain at meal times, he wants to play with everything, unfortunately the most fun is to throw things on the floor and get me to pick them up – and cry if I don’t give them back to him! He’s starting to feed himself more, which will hopefully keep him busy!
