Monthly Newsletter - Month Twenty One
Feb 04, 2008
This has been a strange month as Thomas has been poorly for most of it – or it certainly feels like it anyway! I’m not sure of the last time his nose wasn’t running. He’s getting very good at letting us wipe it and sometimes he’ll even wipe it himself – often on his hands though…
The major change for Thomas this month was starting Nursery, he now goes two mornings a week. The first time Chris and I dropped him off he was fine – waved bye bye and started playing. He was very, very pleased to see me at 1. The second morning he knew what was going on and didn’t want me to leave. Since then he’s got better every day and I think he’s starting to enjoy it. He hasn’t eaten there yet even though they make a nice meal for him every day. The only thing he’s tried is toast and a yoghurt…
Thomas is starting to learn his numbers. He loves the number 2 and can recognise it written down and when there’s two of something. He’s getting better at the numbers 1 and 3, although he often just guesses one or the other. He does know 1 and 3 when written down as well. He is also learning letters and on a good day knows M for Mummy, N for Nanna, T for Thomas and B for Bob (the builder!).
Thomas has always loved books, he has many Thomas the Tank Engine books, which he really loves reading. His favourite is Arthur and he often asks for it. When we have finished reading we look at the pictures of the other books available on the back, Thomas loves picking out the engines he loves when asked for them – it’s amazing how many he knows.
The major development this month happened at his Nanna’s, he managed to climb out of his cot for the first time. It’s a very worrying development but we’re pretty sure he managed to reach a handle – which we’ve moved out of the way… hopefully he won’t be able to do it again for a while!
