Monthly Newsletter - Month Twenty Three

Mar 29, 2008

This has been a fantastic month; Thomas gets better and better as he gets older. He’s so much fun now and has a great sense of fun.

I keep a note of new things he does so I can write these updates, this month I’ve made so many notes I don’t know where to start! The biggest change has been his language. He’s getting so much better at pronouncing words and uses more everyday. He points and says “this” when he wants to know what things are called and when we tell him he attempts to repeat the word after us. He is good at opposites and knows in and out, up and down and on and off (I’m sure there are more but I can’t remember them!). He has also started using sentences (well three words together).

Tom is very good with his numbers and can count to ten, with a little prompting sometimes. He also recognises all the numbers when written down. He has also learnt what mine means, which I think is very clever.

Thomas’ memory is very good; he will remember things for a few days and tells us about it. We saw a lady on a floor cleaner in Asda and he remembered it for several days, it was very exciting! When we went to visit a friend in Leeds she made cake for us, now every time I say her name he says “CAKE”.

Thomas has started doing some very cute things this month, he likes to play baby, where he lays in my arms to be rocked, he sometimes demands it during the day but we always have to do it before bedtime. He also likes to sing Daisy Daisy, as his favorite engine in the Thomas series is Daisy. When I sing “all for the love of you” he grins and says meeee! At the beginning of the month he used to back up to us when he wanted to come onto our knees, but he seems to have stopped doing that.

We can definitely see the terrible twos coming through he can have tantrums, though so far we’ve been quite lucky. They usually happen when he’s tired or eaten cake or chocolate (which we still have on very tight control!). He also hides behind his hands or on the floor if we ask him to do something he doesn’t want to do!

He loves to jump and this month he managed to jump properly for the first time – lifting both feet off the floor. He also managed to stand on one leg and let me put his sock on – which was very good balancing, though he prefers to hold on while we do it normally!

I want to...

Buy these for me.
Buy these and these for Tom.
Go to these places.
Do these things.
