Monthly Update - Month Twenty Six
Jun 30, 2008
Tom has changed a huge amount this month. We went on holiday with him for a week and could tell the difference in that little time. His language is coming on amazingly. He’s very comfortable with five and six word sentances – his record so far is 12 words, unfotunately I can’t remember it exactly but it was something like “nana told tom off when tom put sunglesses in mouth”. He’s very good at asking for what he needs (it’s always need…) though he seems to think the words now and please are interchangable! “more juice now” is something we hear a lot, if I then say “how do you ask for something?” he then says “pleeeease” very sweetly. It’s usually followed by a “dank you”.
Something he has started to do this month is comparing things to books. He has a book called “Dig Dig Digging” and sometimes asks for it when he has a toy out he has to compare it to the picture in the book.
This month we went on holiday to the lake district for a week. Tom loved it, this is the first holiday Tom’s engaged with. We told him what we were going to be doing before we went and he told everyone that we met that he was going to “climb mountains!”. We travelled around and stayed in Ambleside, Boot, Keswick and Pooley Bridge which meant we didn’t get bored – it worked quite well with Tom’s naps though as he slept between towns! One of his favourite things in the whole week was finding water wheels which he calls “water mwheels” as he thinks they’re all mills. We found the two in Ambleside on our first day there and from then he was hooked. Luckily there are two in Boot as well so that kept him happy. I think Toms favourite part of the week was going on the little railway (Eskdale – Ravenglass) we went on it three times – although at first he was very nervous!
This has been a great month and Thomas keeps getting better and better, he’s turning into a little boy and it’s almost possible to have conversations and reason with him.
